Blooming where you’re planted song highlights: Garden Song

To get you ready for a couple of great events that we are doing in April (Blooming Where You’re Planted: songs from farm to table) at the Senior Center and the U of I Old Capitol Museum Senate Chamber, I thought I would share with you our spring songs! Here’s the first –

Garden Song by Dave Mallett

A favorite especially among children, the Garden Song is considered part of American folklore. This song has been covered by many artists, including Pete Seeger and The Muppets. Leo Lionni also wrote a book called Inch by Inch, which was inspired by this song. You may not be familiar with the title, but when you hear the beginning of the song, “Inch by inch, row by row, gonna make this garden grow…” you’ll probably remember a time when you sang this song. Maybe even when you were starting your own spring vegetable garden! Here’s Dave:
