Down By the Riverside: concert on Sunday, May 4
The Family Folk Machine presents “Down By the Riverside,” our spring concert, on Sunday, May 4, at 3 p.m. at the Senior Center. The concert will include familiar water songs like “The Water is Wide” and “Michael, Row the Boat Ashore” as well as lovely and lively new favorites. We are pleased to welcome local songwriter Chris Vinsonhaler to lead us in “Iowa River Call.” The kids of the Folk Machine are looking forward to sharing with you a song they wrote with a little help from Katie Roche about the Iowa River. Their song, “What if the river was clean?” imagines the fun we could have with our river if we could get the water cleaned up.
Our water songs will be framed by newly-crafted poems about the river by students in the Iowa Youth Writing Program.
The concert is free and open to the public. Please come sing along!
